ONE-TEEB HILL. ■Mr. E. A. Craig presided over the ordinary meeting of the One-tree Hill Road Board, held iast evening. A revaluation of the district was considered necessary in view of recent Increases of land values, and It was decided to ask the Valuation Department to have the work carried out. A statement was made by the chairman in answer to a question that the Board was not Issuing building permits for sections of .less than one-Ufth of an acre or with less than a OOft frontage. Messrs. Hesketh and Richmond advised that the Board v.-as not liable in respect to a claim made by Mr. It. Smith for £25 compensation for alleged damage to his property caused by storm water In August last. EDEN TERRACE. The ordinary meeting of the Eden Terrace Road Board, held last night, was attended by Messrs. W. H. Haslett (In tho chair), R. McKlwain, n. A. Good, Croft, J. W. Andrew, and J. U. BrovrneJ It was decided to erect a lamp-post in Greenwoodstreet. The secretary was Instructed to write to the Auckland City Council, asking that a proportion of the license fees be handed over to the Board. Complaint 3 were received to the effect that some members of the Fire Brigade had been tampering with the appliances last Saturday night. It was decided to write to the captain of the brigade drawing his attention to the matter. MOUNT ROSK3LL. The Mount RoskJll Road Board met last night. There were present: Messrs. Charles Bagley (chairman), T. K. Hayr, E. J. Herd, C Worrall, J. Hazlett, J. Ambnry and T. F. Booth. It was decided that Churchroad be filled in and widened. The following tenders were received:—(a) For tho formation of Qneenstown-road, H. K. Greenhlthe, £575; Woolley and McUeeni £620. For the formation of Rldge-road, Edward Hnnter, £476 13/4; Woolley and McLean, £415 2/6. Aβ the tenders In each instance exceeded the estimates, It was decided to carry out the works by day labour. Mrs. Torrance, of Liverpool-street, "made an offer to the Board of a strip of her property if the Council would widen the road and cut down the trees now standing on the land. The offer was accepted. The chairman reported that the cost of widening and straightening Mt. Albert-road, near tho Veterans' Home -would be about £200. The matter was deferred for a week. DHVONPORT BOROUGH COUNCIL. The Devonport Borough Council met last night. Water Pressure.—A letter was received from the Auckland Fire Underwriters' Association pointing out that the inadequacy of the water supply for suppression purposes was again evident at the recent fire in Mozley-avenue, and inquired what the Council intended doing towards putting matters on a more satisfactory basis, and pending a reply, the association would defer taking any definite action, in the direction of adjusting the insnraace rates at present charged in the borough. It was resolved to inform' the association that the matter has been referred to the Waterworks Committee for consideration and report. Building Area.—Messrs Napier and Smith, instructed by Mr. \V. T. Shaw, wrote to the effect that the Council's action in refusing to grant Mr. Shaw permission to erect a house on his lan-d In Kerr-street on the ground that the area of the land was some feet short of what was required by the by-laws, was wrong, as the r/cent judgment of Mr. Justice Sim showea the by-law to be invalid. It was resolved to refer the matter to the Borough Solicitor, and the Mayor was empowered to confer with the solicitor and report to the Works Committee. Tenders.—Messrs. C. P. Wells and Co. wrote stating that their tender, which had been accepted for new work 1n connection with the contract for tarring and sanding the footpaths of the borough, omitted to include the cost of a second coating of tar and sand, which would bring the price for the new work to £2 2/1 per 100 square yards, 17/10 more than previously quoted. It was decided to call fresh tenders for the work.
