DISEL N TROUT.
(By Telegraph.—PailianSe"Bfary Reporter.) WELLINGTON", this day. The Hon. T. Mackenzie (Minister in Charge of Tourists Resorts), interviewed regarding a statement made at the Auckjlaud Acclimatisation Society meeting, that trout were being destroyed wholesale in the Rotorua lakes, said that all the fish that have been destroyed by the ranger were found to be _iseased. If the iisn -were being used in Rotorua aa stated, that was contrary to sec. 0 of the Trout Fishing Regulations for the Rotorua acclimatisation district. The theory was that th<? trouble arose from a worm that developed in the fish. The shag was supposed to tie the host of that particular creature for.a time., and it was then transmitted to fish. The Department was now experimenting at Ruakura wi'h ducks to see if there was anything in the theory or not. Mr. Mackenzie added i..at as far as the actions of the Department and its officers are concerned there is no doubt they ate doing the right thing, and it is only natural that drastic steps should be taken to stamp out the disease.
