Before a large and mo?t enthusiastic audience. lUadaine Carreno gave her fifth and last concert of one of the most enjoyable and highly-instructive musical seasons that has ever taken place in Auckland. At the close of the recital the famous pianiste was vociferously encored, and after each solo received enthusiastic demands for a further exhibition of her powers. Grieg's famous "'Concerto in A Minor." op. 16, received a magnificent rendering, and the second piano part Tvas artistically played by Herr Benno Scherek. Beethoven? Sonato."' op. 31. Xo. .'!, was performed "with .cxt raordina rv clearness and phrased in a charming manner, and great virtuosity was' in SchiiniaTin'.-* "Etudes.-"' op. 13. liiirhly-interestinjr rendering? woro also given Xii TsohaikowskVs "Nocturne." SniPtana's '"Am Se.egestade."" an.l the Pagan mi-Liszt "Lj& C'ampanell.T.'" Madame Carrraio loft for Kotonia this nioniiiig, and while thero will give a recital on Monday evening, and on Tuesday will play at Hamilfcm. After that she gives concerts in the Southern town?, finally leaving the Dominion on August-22 from the Bluff for AwtraKi.
