BISHOP NELIGAN'S RESIGNATION.

APPRECIATIVE RESOLUTION. "PROFOUND SORROW AND SENSE OF LOSS." The deep sense of regret felt by the Anglican community at the announcement by Bishop Neligan that he had placed his resignation of the See of Auckland in fche hands of the Primate, has found expression in the following I resolution, carried unanimously by the j •Standing Committee of the Diocese, and | forwarded to the Bishop:—"That the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Auckland has learned , of the resignation of the See by the Right Reverend the Lord Bishop, on the grounds of illhealth, with profound sorrow and a keen sense of great loss. It would earnestly request the reconsideration of this step did it not know that in the interests of the Bishop's health it has been urged ■by the best medical advice. It desires to place on record its grateful sense of those untiring labours of the Bishop, which, alas, have resulted in the wrecking of his health; and also of how often during his short episcopate the Bishop has inspired very many of his people with higher ideals of service for the Master's sake. It desires to gratefully acknowledge the cordial relations which have at all times existed between his Lordship and the Standing Committee, and the many kindnesses and helps, which the members of the committee have received at his hande. It believes, and hopes, and prays that after an interval of rest, the Bishop will be called by God to some new work in Hie Church, such as the Bisnop's many great gifts and burning zeal qualify him for. It desires to respectfully tender to'his Lordship and Mrs. Xeligan the heartfelt sympathy of every memlrer of the Standing Committee, and it prays the Father of Mercies and the God of all Comfort to be a refuge and strength to them in this sad hour of trial."
