Conferences.— lnspsctorGeneral, replj-tns to the Beard's complain - ! in regard to tie esclnsJon of Education Board representatives from the Education Conference recently held in Wellington pointed oat that the conference was specially to elicit views on different branches of edt:ca!tion and their relation to each other from a purely professional standpoint, so that it was impracticable to include representatives of administrative bodies, howerer valuable their service and co-operation might prove in other branches of the edu-j i cational system. The chairman considered! that tihe time was ripe when a conference I of representatives of Education Boards 1 ; should be summoned to discuss various matters of vital importance, as affecting the administrative responsibilities of Boards. I He said he wonld refer the. matter to ths Minis , EHerslie School.—A deputation from the EllersUe School Committee, headed by Mr. ■McKinney (chairman), waited on tie Board j with an application for. increased accommodation at the Ellerslie School. The number of scholars was shown to be in excess or the recognised floor space. The chairman directed attention' to the tact that Tv» Board's officers, reporting last August, were of opinion that the need for additional rooia was not pressing. Certainly thprp had been an accession of pnpils. but before the- Department would entertain an application for a vote, it would be necessa-ry to sh(vw that i there was absolute necessity for extra accsmmodati.TO.
