TAKATTOTA J.C. SUMMER MEETING. The Takapnna Jockey Club's Bummer Meeting was concluded on Saturday in fine weather, and with a large attendance. The racing was easily the best of the gathering, the various events being well contested, while several were only won by the narrowest of margins. Mr. J. \V. Ralph officiated as judge, Mr. S. Kohn as timetee-per, and Mr. C. O'Connor as starter, the latter gpntleman being hardly as successful as usnal and his dispatches in the Marine Handicap, in which Doughboy got out with a flying start, and in the Welter, in which. Mialora and Spectre were left, were not good ones. As on the previous days, the arrangements lor the conduct of the meeting by the secretary (Mr. R. Wynyard) left no room for complaint. THE TOTALISATORDuring the afternoon speculation was very brisk, the sum of £11,226 10/ being handled by the staff of Messrs. W. Blomfleld and. Co.", w.hlch made a total of £27,849 10/ Tor the gathering, a slight decrease over last year. Bookmakers' fees for the gathering amounted to £1342. THE STEWARDS. During the afternoon the stewards met to consider the running, of Ilohungatahi, aa compared with his effort on the opening, day, the explanation offered being accepted as satisfactory. In this connection, while commending the stewards for their action, there were one or two cusps as glaring as Hohungatahi's, but no inquiry was instituted. Probably everything was in order, but it would tend to create a much securer feeling if all cases of inconsistent running were investigated. THIRD PONT HANDICAP of 75sovs. Five furlongs. A.
