The British firm of Depass and Spence, jOhose headquarters are in Capetown, received in 1886 a perpetual title to an prea at Luderitz Bay, German South-west lAfrico, now within the diamond district. The German authorities granted the right to peg claims on the same area to German Bubjects. The matter was referred by Dep.ass and JSpence to the Cape Government, who transmitted the papers to the British Foreign Office, which, after examining them, iB now intervening to protect the rights of the British firm.
