With the wind string ngainst them, the Maoris had a stiff task in the half, but, by stubborn, clever play, they ; managed to establish a lead of 6 points to 5, Kopana and Pakcre each having an unconverted try, t!ie p-.itcoir.e of fine passing rushes, to his credit. ; In the second spell t;>o visitors kept : New South Wales on the defensive the | greater part of the time. Kopana and j Wharepapa secured tries, the wind spoiling the shots at goal. The home teora got their second try just on the call of time.
