WALLABIES' FIRST DEFEAT. LEAGUE MATCH DRAWN. LONDON, October IS. The "Wallabies" (the Australian amateur Rugby team) played their seventh match yesterdaVi when they met Llanelly and sustained their first defeat. Llanelly secured a try five minutes after starting, and soon after Carroll ran threequartera the length of the ground and scored a try for the Wallabies. Towards half-time Evans, the international forward, added a brilliant try for the Welsh team, which was converted. The second half was hotly contested, and the result aroused immense enthusiasm among the 10,000 spectators who witnessed the same. The Australian League team (professionals) played a draw with Salford, each securing three goals and a try. Messenger kicked a penalty goal and a goal from a mark early in the game, and Salford equalised. A vigorous unscientific game followed. In the second half Devereattx added a try, unconverted, and Messenger a goal.
