The Otago and Southland Sheepowners' Association discussed the prices of. shearing for the ensuing season. of owners were opposed to any increase , in shearing rates on account of the low prices of wool and other causes. It was i decided, .therefore, to make no recom- , mendatdon, which means that 16/8 per j 100, with rations, for hand or machine, will .be paid as under the existing award. POLICE PENSIONS. WELLINGTON, this day. At a meeting of the Police Provident Board to-day pensions were granted as follows: Inspector MacDonneU (Napier), 33 years' service, £225 per annum; Constable A. The past winter has caused the greatest mortality yet known among the natives of this district.
