■ ■■'■■ »—■■ "■— ■ ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-MORROW. Preparations are now complete for the celebrations which are to mark the observance of Labour Day to-morrow. The chief features will, of course, be the monster procession from the foot of Queenstreet to the Domain, and the sports gathering at the last mentioned place. The procession is to form up in Quay and Customs streets at 5.30 a.m., and, after the judging, will proceed to the Domain by way of Queen, Wellesley, Hobson, and Pitt streets, Karangahaperoad, Synronds-street, Khyber Pass, and Grafton-road. Lining up on the Domain drive, the remainder of the judging will be proceeded with. Tlie competitions for the best displays in connection with the procession number 18, and as the entries are generally very satisfactory, it is expected that this feature should prove a decided success. Tram traffic is to be suspended during the procession in the various streets on the line of march. For the sports gathering on the Domain cricket ground in the afternoon, a programme has been prepared, which comprises 19 events. £150 will be distributed in prizes. The Railway Department announces that holiday excursion tickets will be issued from Kaukapakapa, Mercer, and intermediate stations to Auckland by morning trains to-morrow, available for return on day of issue only. A train will leave Kaukapakapa for Auckland at 7 a.m., and the 4.40 p.m. Kaipara train will run through to Kaukapakapa. The members of the legal profession are requested by the Auckland Law Society to close their offices to-morrw. The fire "insurance offices will also be closed. The Government Buildings will also be closed, and nearly all the warehouses and retail firms in the city will observe the holiday. The Chief PostmastcT at Auckland has received a message from Wellington to the effect that the post and telegraph offices are to remain open as usual. There will, however, be only one delivery by letter carrier. A general holiday is being given to the CHy and the majority of the suburban schools.
