A WOMAN SUFFOCATED.
MELBOURNE, July 5.. . The death, in peculiar circumstances, of Mrs. Mary Malcolm, has been reported to the Coroner. Oh. Saturday afternoon Constable Rowan was called, to ■ Argylestrcet,; Fitzrdy, where Mrs. Malcolm lay deadi. Her husband, John Malcolm,.stated that his wife and child were eating their lunch of grilled chops, when he wHs attracted by a gasping, gurgling sound made by his wife. He hastened to hei assistance, and removed a plate of artificial teeth which she was wearing, thinking they had been the. cause of her choking. He had hardly done ; this when his wife died in his arms. A post-mortem examination showed that •■ the cause 'of death was, a piece of ',. meat; which had lodged in the glottis and locked" it, causing siiffocatipn;
