WAIHI NEWS.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this flay. The secretary of the Blackball Union has informed the local union that a delegate, representing the men who are on strike, will visit Auckland, Waihi, and other places this week. A social was held last night under the auspices of the local Baptist Church, and proved a great success. A thoroughly enjoyable programme was given, and refreshments were dispersed by the ladies of the congregation. Several cases of typhoid fever have been reported during the last few days. I understand that typhoid is also prevalent at Taunmga, where several hospital tents have been erected.
