PERSONAL.
The Rev. C. A. B. Watson, vicar of St. Paul's, will be inducted to-night. Mr. W. J. Geddis was a passenger for Wellington by the Rarawa to-day. Mr. John Smart, of Clyde, will contest the Tua-peka seat in the Opposition interest. Mr. Cyril Ward, son of the Premier, who was operated on on Monday, is making excellent progress towards recovery. Mr. W. P. Endean, LX..8., left Auckland by the Talune yesterday to join the Vancouver en route to London, where he will continue his legal studies. The usual weekly meeting of the Grey Lynn Good Templar Lodge was held on Tuesday evening. The meeting took the form of a social. Brother and Sister Jenkin, who were about to leave here for a trip to the Old Country, said a few words of farewell. A Press Association telegram states that the Otago A. and P. Society today farewelled Mr. James Shiel, who is leaving Dunedin to settle in the Old Country. He had been an active member of the committee for seventeen years, and -was president in 1597. Opportunity was also taken to wish bon voyage to Messrs. Hazlett and Pattulo, past vicepresidents, who are about to visit the Motherland. Mr. Norman Whyte, secretary of the Onehunga Sawmilling Company, was presented by the directors with a handsome writing desk .on the occasion of his marriage to Miss lSallwell. He -was also presented by the employees of the mill with a handsome solid silver eutree dish.
