Brown, for having assaulted and robbed Robert Patterson, of Shan- j non, of one bottle of whisky and 7/6, I were sentenced to two years and a half imprisonment with, hard labour. ■John Cha-lkex waj* acquitted on. a. charge of robbery with violence. Eraanucl White, on a charge of having caused the death of L.uey Uoldfinch by failing to take proper precautions for hei safety, was found not guilty by the jury, and discharged accordingly. NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. In the Supreme Court, before Mr. Justice Edwards, Albert Hugo Korth, charged with false pretences by means of a valueless cheque, was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment, and ordered to be ; sent to the habitual offenders' prison at. New Plymouth. A. J." Stewart, who was found gnilty on a charge of common assault on Detective Boddam, and assaulting with intent j to commit actual bodily harm, was sea- j tenced to three months' hard labour. |
