TRADES AND LABOTJB COUNCIL. The ordinary meeting of the Trades ana Labour Coudcll was held last night. Mr. A. Rosser (President) occupied the ch.iir, and there was a good attendance of delegates. It wns agreed to accede to a reques* the Political Labour League that —j Council should meet them at their rooms on the 26th Inst., with a view to setting up a representative committee. • The Political Labour League forwarded a request for co-operation in organising a public meeting to "express Indignation with the way tramway matters are being managed in this city." No further business of public interest was discussed, and tie niujor portion of the evening was devoted to an'address by the P.pv. K. A. Robinson, Congregational Minister of Onehunga. A suggestion by that gentleman that the Council should approach the Auckland Ministers' Association with a view to getting permission for members of the Council to occupy pulpits, say once a month, was greeted -with derisive laughter. ONE-TREE HILJj ROAD BOARD. The One-tree Hill Board met last night Present: Messrs E. W. Btoton (Chairman), W. Wall, C. McKinncy, M. R. Creagh, and H. B. ■ Devereaux. The dedication bf the Avenue, Bohlri, and Wheterarl. roads was accepted. "With regard to the resolutions passed by the 'Drainage Scheme Committee the. Board decided to adopt them as far> as lay in its power. A letter was' read from the manager of the Tramway Company explaining the causes of the recent irregularities In the car service, and stating that "no trouble, or expense would be spared in putting things right with all possible speed. After some discussion the Board resolved: (1) "That the Board acknowledge the receipt of the letter from the general manager of the Tramways Company, wherein the company at last acknowledges, and regrets (a) ite irregularities In running the time-table, (b) that these irregularities are becoming more acute at times when the cars are most needed, (c) the discovery that machinery wears out." 2. "That the Board inform the company that it proposes to take snch steps as it .deems meet to enforce the company s adherence to the terms of the deed of delegation." .
