■ . c TTJAKAU. The annual picnic In connection with the Roman Catholic Chnrch took place on Saturday afternoon last, In a paddock lent for i the occasion by Mr. A. Madill. There was I a very large attendance, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent by all. The Pnkekohe Brass Band rendered several selections I whichi were very much appreciated. A number of races were run, and a large number of prizes were .distributed. In the eTenine a social gathering was held in the Tuakau Hall, and the building proved quite inadequate to accommodate the large attendance As the evening was a bright moonlight one those unable to get into the hall enjoyed thcinsslvos out of doors. The arrangements for the picnic and social were In the hands of a committee consisting of Mrs. J aic Gahan, Mrs. M. Black, Miss McGuire," Miss Murray, Miss Bruce and Miss Cooney. J. , Mather presided at the concert, which followed the tea, when an excellent programme was gone through, there being amongst those -who contributed items friends both from Pnkekohe, and also from Auckland. During the evening the chairman presented the. prizes won by Sunday School children.
