MOROCCAN PRETENDER.
ENGAGEMENT BY THE FRENCH. AN EXTENSIVE FIGHT. (By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright.) MOROCCO, October 23. The French forces, under the command of General Drude, have had a sharp fight ■with 5000 mounted followers of Mulai Hafid, the Pretender to the- Moorish throne. The Moors' losses numbered abont 50. The encounter was followed by an attempt to ambush the French reconnaissance. Some of the tribes involved afterwards submitted, and undertook to deliver their arms to General Drude tomorrow.
