The thi-ee riders w<ho filled the places are all Victorians. Two hundred and thirty riders started, which constitutes a world's record. The riding conditions for the race were unfavourable, the roads being sloppy owing to rain. Nevertheless some splendid work was done. Dobie, the winner, left Warrnambool at 6.13 in the morning, and reached Melbourne at 1.57 p.m. Oaks was next to finish, about a-<juarter of a mile behind, and theu caaie Willis. Oaks' time was 8U 24m 475, and Willis' Sh 7m 425. Larcomb, w-ho was on scratch, made the fastest time. 7h. 40m 10s, lowering J. Arnst's record by over three minutes. Larcomb finished fifteenth. The second fastest time was put up by Birch, a New Zeaiander, who, riding from the 24m mark, completed the course in 71i 43£ m. Dobie is 6ft 2in in height, and weighs 13st. Oaks bsis only one arm. Larcomb, who rode unpaced from Colac, punctured near Geelong, causing a delay of 10 minutes. A passing cyclist lent him a wheel. The cyclist Silvana Journeyed from Melbourne to Sydney in 73h 37m, lowering the previous record by li 34m. VICTORIA TOURING CLUB. A large number of cyclists took part in the opening run of the Victoria Cycle Touring Club (Devonport) on Saturday afternoon. The run was out to Lake Takapuna, the cyclists returning to Devonport shortly before 6 p.m A smoke .concert was held in the evening, when an excellent programme was submitted by Messrs J. Kelly, E. Curtis, P. Easthan, A. Jones, C. Olsen, B. Range, Spence, and the Victoria Quartet. Mi* V. Shram acted as accompanist.
