CROWN LANDS BOARD.
The meeting of the Crown Lands Board was continued yetserday afternoon, after we went to press. Halves, Thirds, and Fourths.—The following expenditure was approved:—Halves (timber and flax): Whangarei County Council. £46 7/4. Thirds and fourths: Te Kuitl Bead Board. £6 1/S; Whangarel County Conncil, £IS2 5/11. Also the following, subject to the ranger's certificate: H'untly Road Board, £6S 13/1; Waikie_ie Road Board, £5 «/4.
Cemetery Reserve- —The Board decided to resume possession of two acres ont of section 112, block 11., Tapapa S.D. (Mata-m-ata settlement), under L.I.F. to G. NDodd, for reservation as a cemetery site, compensation to be granted for any substantial improvements of a permanent character.
' The Frontage Question. —It was decided to withdraw section a; block 11., Purua S.D., from sale, as, while being only a small one, the length of Its frontage to the "Walrua River would affect the value of the Crown land at the back, if disposed of.
Transfers.—The consideration of the applications for transfers was completed today. The number granted was 32, several being" approved subject to the conditions being observed. One transfer in connection with a Rotorna section was declined, the conditions not having been complied With.
Quarry Reserve. —The c_airman of the Mt. Wellington Road Board waited on the meeting with a view to having the quarry reserve at Mt- WelUngton vested in the local bodies interested. It was stated that, although the Mt. Wellington Board had formerly charged for the gravel taken, this practice had been discontinued when the authority for so doing had been found to be non-existent, and people were now removing gravel without m___o_ any payment. It was decided that the Commissioner be empowered to deal with the matter in the direction requested
Freehold. —Certificates of. title were granted'to 12 OJ--P. tenants and cash- purchasers.
Forfeitures.—lt was decided to rescind the Board's previous resolution to the effect -that James Hill be required to forfeit his section at Waltoa. the reasons given for the delay in complying with the conditions being deemed satisfactory. The Commissioner dissented from this motion. The former decision, that a Fencourt settler named Swayne be required to forfeit his section, was rescinded. Eight ot__r settlers forfeited their sections.
