Alfred Henderson, a middle-aged man with several aliases, was this afternoon charged at the Police Court, before Mr. Dyer, S:M., with having forged a cheque on the National Bank, on June 19, 1905, and uttered it to Benjamin McKerras, who acted upon it, believing at to be genuine. Chief Detective . Marsack prosecuted, accused being defended by Mr. J. R. Lundon. Evidence was given by Mr. McKerras to the effect that Henderson entered his shop on the day in question and purchased some boots and other articles, tendering the cheque in payment. The cheque was subsequently returned dishonoured, with the notification - that there was no account in the name of Charles E. Grant, the person purported to have signed the cheque.
