OTAHUHU ITEMS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Football.—Otahuhu v. Mount Eden. Owing to the Wainku team being unable to come, this match was arranged for and played last Saturday afternoon at Otahuhu. and resulted in a very easy win for' Ot_trahn. During the first half S. Saunders and W. Dick sec—"cd tries, both of which were converted by W. Dick and G. Dixon respectively. Tries were also scored by G. G. Dixon, P. O"—eary, and F„ Dixon during the first half. On resuming play the game was again of a one-sided nature, the visitors being unable to withstand the combined play and good passing of the home team. The following ecored tries in the second half:—W. Dick, J. Paton, O'Leary (converted by W. Dick), J. Muir, _. Coddigan (converted ty S. Saunders). The points were 19 each half, making the game Otabuhn 38, Mount Eden nil. Mr D. Carson acted as referee.
A fancy dress ball was heW in Mr. Allen's Hall, East Tamaki. on Friday night The hall was crowded, the number being augmented by a 'bus load from Otahuhu. The disguises were many and varied. Mr J. Walsh contributed a comic song. Supper was 'aid in an adjoining tent. The arrangements, which were efficiently carried out, had been made by a ladies' committee in East Tamaki, Misses Allen and Findiy ably acting as secretaries for same.
Otahuhu Mutual Improvement Society. — There was a large attendance of this so<rfetv on Monday night in the Masonic Ha_, Mr "r. Todd presided. Rev. T. Scott, of Mangere, delivered a lecture on "Ballads of the Scottish Borders." His lecture was divided into three parts—(l) ballads ot war and feud, (2) ballads of love, (3) ballads of the supernatural. The following Scotch items were rendered:—Piano selection, "Balmoral," Mrs Fraser; songs, "Robin Adair." Miss A. Carson; "My Love Is Like the Red, Red Rose," Miss Mary Day; "Auld Robin Gray," Miss Motrin; "Ye Banks and Braes," Mr H. Andrew.
