HEAVY RAINFALL.
I ijTRATFOKD ±IAJUL>£«d. ! (By Telegraph.—Press Association.} STRATFORD, this day. The biggest downpour of rain ever I experienced here occurred last night. S Broadway was iiooded for some time, i and a stream of water, eighteen inches I deep, was flowing through the County i Hotel from the back to the front. Mr. Stohr's chemist's shop, the Kew Zealand Clothing Factory, the Bank of Australasia, and the adjoining hotel were also flooded out, and the flood water had also entered several other shops and dwellings. Between three and four inches of rain fell in about two' hours. Reports from outside show that the deluge was confined to the immediate neighbourhood of the mountain. Later intelligence received states that a good deal of damage was done by the heavy downpour of last night in the neighbourhood of Strathmore, slips having entirely blocked the road for vehicular traffic on the Strathmore Saddle. The road will not be c-lear for the coach till Tuesday- but it is expected that a bridle-track wiil be constructed, to-night.
