THE WEEKLY HALF-HOLIDAY.
Wednesday is approved by the Devonport tradesmen as the date of the weekly half holiday. The Mayor of Devonport (Mr E. W. Alison) stated last night that the Town Clerk had canvassed the business people, and found that they were almost unanimous iv favour of Wednesday. Upon his motion it was decided to pass the necessary resolution fixing the holiday at a special meeting to be held on January 31. At a meeting of the Eden Terrace Road Board held in the Board-room last evening it was resolved that Wednesday be the day for the weekly half-holiday.
