IRRIGATION CONFERENCE. SYDNEY, January 17. The Irrigation Conference has adopted a resolution urging the Goovernment to carry out a comprehensive scheme of water conservation and irrigation, and advising that immediate steps be taken to protect State rights over the Murray and its tributaries. COMMERCIAL BANKING COMPANY. SYDNEY', January 17. The half-yearly meeting of the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney waa held to-day. A dividend of 10 per* cent. was declared; £15,000 is to be added to reserve; and £21,000 is to be carried forward. The chairman, referring to |he decrease in the note circulation, said it was due to shrinkage in trade, and diminished expenditure on wages, also to the fact that gold ia gradually displacing notes in all the States of the Commonwealth.
