Several transactions took place in Waiotahi shares to-day at prices ranging from £8 down to £7, after which £7 2/6 was paid, and more could have been placed at £7. Moanataiari shares sold at 2/9 and 2/10, and May Queen Extendeds from 1/4 to 1/6, with later sales at 1/5, at which price more could be placed. Other shares showed little change, with the exception that Golden Belt contributing issue sold at 2/10 and 2/11. In Standard lines N.Z. Insurance shares were better, being wanted at £5. GOLDEN SPARK. The leading stope~on the hangingwall leader from the rise is 'along 20 feet, and is getting back over the old level. The leader appears to have been left intact for a considerable distance, and is showing gold at each breaking down. Some few pieces of quartz have been saved as picked stone. The manager hopes to have a fair slock below the level. OLD HAURAKL Two cross drives are being put in from the crosscut in the footwal-1 of No. 7 lead at the 100-foot level. The country is fairly good, and quartz stringers are occasionally met with. The water is rising a littTe more quickly. Tributera in the various sections are getting satisfactory indications. The manager reports as follows:— During the past week we have shot down the rich portion of the hangingwall, and, as wired to you on Saturday and Monday, 7cwt of picked stone har, been secured. As there is quartz stil! showing at the back of where the gold, was obtained, we are now cutting into it in order to ascertain the true hangingwall. I also intend taking out the. hangingwall portion that was left standing, and there is now a good show of gold in this direction, and a good show of gold is still left on the floor of the drive. As wired to you, 'I investigated a disturbance in the face on Friday night, but so far we have not been able to do sufficient to prove what effect it will have: there is still a lai-ge body of quartz in the face.
