LIBERAL AND LABOUR FEDERATION CONCLAVE.

(By Telegraph. -Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. The executive of the New Zealand Liberal and Labour Federation met in conclave last night for the purpose of discussing with its president, Mr. Seddon, matters in connection with the general elections next November. The proceedings were etrictly private, but I gather that the question of the selection of candidates to contest various coastituencies in the interests of the party was held over till a later period. It was thought advisable to adopt this course, as nothing could be done in this direction till the electoral boundaries were defined. It was understood that the Government will endeavour to place on the Statute Book next session either an absolute majority or second ballot measure. The members of the executive agreed as to the necessity of putting their shoulders to the wheel in anticipation of the coming fray, which, it was predicted, will be an equal struggle between Liberal and Conservative forces. The members of the Ministry now in Wellington were present at last night's conference. Mr. P. J. Neherny, of Auckland, took part in the deliberations.
