WAIHI AFFAIRS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAI til, Monday. 'Mr W. Shepherd Allen, M.A., conducted the carol services yesterday at Waihi Weslcyan Church, there being a full attendance at each service. There was an exceptionally good orchestra aud a chorus of twenty voices, some excellent carols being rendered. An evening service was also held at tlie Academy of Music. Tonight there will be a social in the church. In the Academy of Music a welcome social was tendered by the parishioners of St. Joseph's Church to Mr and Mrs M. L. Simmons. The Very Rev. Father Brodie in an appropriate address congratulated Mr Simmons on being now permanently settled In Walhl. A musical programme was. rendered, after which dancing was indulged In till a late hour. A meeting of the Waihi Horticultural Society was held In Meyer's Hall. A letter accepting the position of president was received from Mr tl. P. Barry. The schedule committee presented a complete report, which was passed unanimously. It was decided to hold the soiety's initial show on the 01 h of March. 1904. Arrangements were then made for the appointment of judges in the various sections, after which the meeting terminated. The Waihi Cru Let Association sends an eleven on New Year's Day to play Kntlkati. With the exception of last year, this match has been always recognised as an annual affair, and has been much enjoyed by both sides.
