The opening football match of the se.ison took place on Saturday afternoon upon the Waihi Recreation Reserve, Karauj;ahakc meeting the Waihi West CUib. There was a good attendance of the public. P, Smith captained the visitors, and Cunningham Wtiiiii. The latter won the toss, and about ten minutes after the ball had been in play F. Graham scored for Waihi from a loose scrum opposite K'arangahake'e fecal. Cunulnghatn converted. Play mostly took place in the visitors' territory, where f , cm a loose scrum CTNeil got away and aildc-d another try for Waihi. Cunningham again converted. In the second spell the visitors tried hard to score, but missed several opportunities, the name ending: Waihi 10 points, Karangahake nil. Forward the local team was much superior to the visitors, >viio were certainly better in the back division. Graham and Wyatt, of Waihi, got slightly hurt during the match, the former hayiag to retire, Dare taking his place. P. Garvty «aye general satisfaction as referee.
