ARMY MEAT CONTRACTS.

The Agent-General cables that at an interview 7 with the Under-Secre-tary for State and the War Office with reference to the South African meat contracts, he strongly urged that preference should be given to colonial meat. He gathered that this would' be done as far as is practicable. Tenders are already advertised, but the Premier has -wired to the Governmenf! agent at Capetown for further details. Tenders are due at Capetown, Durban and Pretoria by February 3rd. " *
