SAFE ROBBERY AT ONEHUNGA.
Another safe robbery is reported from Onehunga, this time the scene of the thieves' operations being Messrs. W. Sutherland & Co.'s tannery. On entering the office this morning Mr. K. Sutherland discovered that the safe was missing, and on searching in the vicinity he found that a boat, oars and rowlocks belonging to the firm had also disappeared. Mr. Stoupe, the company's manager, subsequently saw a boat rowing at the water's edge near the cemetery, a quarter of a-mile distant, and, in company with Constable O'Grady, proceeded to the spot, where they found the safe broken open. The books and papers were left intact, but: a sum Of money was missing. Senior Constable Tatt is now investigating the matter.
