NAPIER, this day. The National Council of Women passed the following resolutions: —

(1) That the sole qualifications for an old age pension be 25 years' residence in the colony and a certified ag-e of G5 years, and that the amount of the pension be increased to 10/ a week; (2) that all sentences for serious offences should be decided as to duration by the reform of the criminal, and should be limited to the maximum penalty attached to tbe crime; (3) that women visiting justices be appointed to our prisons; (4) that capital punishment be abolished.

A paper on "Reform in Government" was read by Mrs Sheppard, of Christchurch.
