BIRKENHEAD COUNCIL
The Birkenhead Borough Council held its fortnightly meeting on Thursday evening. There were present: The Mayor (Mr J. H. Witheford. M.H.R.), Messrs J. G Kay, T. Hadfleld, P. Donahoe. E. J. White, H. I\ Taylor, A. Keyes. W. Wallace. The matter of the purchase of a road roller and also that of obtaining a town hall site were discussed in committee, Cr. Wallace protesting against the discussion in committee of so many matters. The Mayor was authnrtsed to s'gn any agreement made by _*>. committee appointed at tho conference of delegates re the erection of a hospital. An offer made by Mr Copland to supply wa-ter-worn metal at 5/S per yard was accepted. A petition was received and was considered in committee regarding tho repair of the footpath in Telephone Road. The Mayor said that four extra men would be employed to keep the footpathin good order. It w^s-decided to hold a special meeting on the 14th instant for the purpose of installing the Mayor.
