REMUERA MUSICAL SOCIETY.

An open concert was given last evening by the Remuera Musical Society in St. Mark's Parish Hall. There was a good attendance, and the excellent programme provided was greatly appreciated. The two g-ems of the evening- were the two instrumental trios, "Novelletten" (Gade), and "Allegro" (Guilctt). played by Miss Sybil Lewis, Prof. Egerton, and Mrs Macaridrew. Mr S. Cousins received an encore for his singing of "The Admiral's Broom" (Beven), and responded with ■"Vanity." Mr Hooton scored a great success' with his rendering of "Mona," and had to repeat the last verse. Mr T. Rowe sang "The Mighty Deep." Mrs Lawry sang "Songs We Used to Sing (with violin obligate by Miss Sybil Lewis), and "Ask Nothing More." Miss Coney sang "A Mother's Love," and Miss OrrHunter "The Kerry Dance" (Molloy), and these two ladies were heard in the duet "Greeting" (Mendelssohn). Mrs Petrle and Miss M. Heywood ,we. re *e!£* to advantage in the piano duet Valse Brillante" (Moszkow-ki). Mr H. Dean Bam ford recited Kipling's "Flag of England" with sucn success that an encore was demanded. Mr Bamford responding with "An Incident of the French Camp (Browning). Ay orchestra consisting of Misses Pickmere and Taylor and Messrs Hckmere and Rhodes played two selections very creditably. Mrs Tayler Miss M Heywood, .and Mr H. Connell were the accompanists; while the concert was under the direction of Mr H. Connell, the society's conductor.
