Mr Wedderspoon preached from Rev. vii. 13, and in the course of his remarks said he deeply and intensely felt the loss of Mr Conolly, as depriving him of his able counsel and support. Ever humble and unassuming, he led a quiet, industrious, and God-fearing life, and his piety was of that noblest kind of all which, without in any way proclaiming or obtruding itself, was yet apparent to all men. Regular in his attendance at church, devoted to the interests of the congregation, of which he was a valued office-bearer, ever willing to help it forward, ready to take a hopeful view of things even in the darkest hours of your history, and thus making himself a pillar in the congregation, a source of strength to his minister and fellow members. In the home he was a model husband. At the conclusion of the service the Dead March in "Saul" was played, the congregation standing meanwhile.
