KAWHIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
On the 23th March the first annual meeting of the Kawhia Football Club wa_ held. Mr'P. C: Crookes occupied the chair. - Mr E. Faiwasser was appointed hon. sec-, retary and treasurer. Other officers wetelected as follow:—Patron, Mr Thomas Goodfellow; vice-patron, Mr F. W. Lang, ' M.H.R.; president, Mr F. C. Crookes; and; i quite a number of viee 7 presidents. 'Over 40 members were enrolled. On Easter Monday evening Mr McArd'.e, of Pirongia, addressed a crowded meeting in the Public Hall, his subject being "Local Self-government and How to Obtain it" Subsequently a committee consisting of Messrs McArdle, T. C. Crookes, end seven others, wit.B power to add to their number, was elected to inquire and report as to the best means of furthering the formation of a Kawhia County Council. '
