FIRE AT DUNEDIN.
NARROW ESCAPE OF THE
INMATES,
. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, this day,
A 6-roomed dwellinghouse in Canon-g-ate-st., occupied by Alexander Brace-g-irdle, )telegraph lineman, was discovered to be on fire at one o'clock this morning. Some pasers-by gave the alarm. Bracegirdle, his wife, and two children had barely time to escape in their nightelothes. A high wind prevailing had probably blown some hot ashes out of the grate, igniting the building. The insurances on the building are £200 in the Standard, and on the furniture £250 in the Australian Alliance office.
