NEWTON PIGEON AND CANARY SHOW.
The Foresters' Hall was crowded last evening by lovers of birds gathered together to admire the splendid show held \inder the auspices of the Newton. Pigeon and Canary Club. Special prizes were kindly given by Messrs C. Chilcott J. J. Craig, McColl, E. Saunders, W. 11. 0. Johnston, T. and S. Morrin and Co., Ross and Ansenne, C. Potter, Charles Morley, Niddrie, J. 11. Hendry, E. Porter and Co., Warnock Bros, F. Prime, G. Ford, J. Macnamara, J. Bollard, M.H.R., Henderson, Howie, McLeod Bros., Auckland Roller Mills, Kiripaka Coal Company and Brett Printing Company. The Cup winners were as follows:—Mr R_ Warnock, cup for the best bird in the show, with his four-year-old black magpie cock, bred by Mr J. Walker. Mr .J. Walker, silver cup for most points in pouters, Jacobins, magpies, ffintails, blondinettes, and any other variety, scoring in all 96 points. Mr George Davies, silver cup for most points in carriers, dragons, Antwerp*?, homers, turbits and owls, scoring in all 107 points. Messrs D. and S. Evans made a good second with 106 points. Mr T. Davies, silver cup for most points in rollers, tumblers and German toys, scoring in all 96 points. In the canary classes Mr Niddrie annexed the silver cup for the best position bird, which having been secured twice in succession now becomes his property. Mr Niddrie also won the cup for scoring the most points; while Mr T. Shewring won the cup for the best Norwich bird.
The show again opened at two o'clock ' this afternoon, and was well patronised. It will remain open until 10 o'clock this evening.
