Richardson and Harris fought for possession, and the former got the best of the deal. G. Robinson and Bartlett repelled Shore's determined attack. Graham and McCoy made an opening, the latter giving a neat pass to Shortt, who lost no time in shooting the rubber through the uprights. The blue and blacks were now getting the best of it. Harris and Braithewaito worked the rubber into clo*e quarters again, and Graham feinting cleverly shot Ponsonby's second goal. The Shore appeared to realise their position, and in the next quarter plnypd with more tact. ■ Richardson threw go.ihvards to Wynyard, who manaped to beat Cooke, and thus drew first blood for the. Shorcitea. .Shortly after Engleton, junr., followed up quickly and sont thr rubber into the net. making the saires two all. A short interval of even play took place about mid-field and the Tonsonby nttfUrk looked very dangerous. Shortt had a shot at goal without any success. Eaglcton, sonr., secured and threw well up the field, where 'Wynyard cleverly graded the opposing defence and shot the third goal for his club. Half time was then cailcd.

Second Half.—Soon after facing off Harris, McCoy and Bourke were conspicuous for good play. The homes w^re carefully watched by the Shore-ites, and insufficient knowledge of the game was severely frit by the blue and blacks. Richardson. Miller and Eagleton carried the ball into Ponsonby's goal, and the latter succeeded in driving' the rubber into the net. Ponsonby stuck to their ta«k manfully, and at times gave the Shore defence a liveh/ time, but better combination nnd knowledge of the game was displayed by the Shore, and Wynvard cirriod the scon? to six goals before "Cense play" was announced. Mr G. Anderson gave universal satisfaction as referee.
