Drunkenness.—Three first offenders were convicted of this offence and discharged with a caution. A fourth offender, -vviio failed to appear, warn fined 10/, to be deducted from the bail money. Eric Anderson and John McCormick were each fined 10/, or 48 hours' in default; while Patrick Minogue was fined 5/, or 24 hours' in default.

Obscene Language.—A young man named John James Buxton was charged with using obscene language in a public place. Serg-eant Hendry: gave evidence as to the offensive language alleged to have been used. Accused denied having used the offensive language. One of accused's companions deposed that he did not hear accused xise the language. Accused was discharged on his own recognisance of £10 to come up for sentence when called for.

Wandering Boys.—Two small boys named Albert Parker and Alfred Barsley, were charged with wandering about and not being under proper control. The Sub-Inspector stated that the boys had been found at three o'clock on Sunday morning sleeping on the roof of the Ferry Company's: waiting-room. Parker's "mother saidL that her son was a good boy and had been led astray. The police stated that Barsley's home was not a happy one. Both boys were discharged with a caution.
