UNIVERSITY CELEBRATIONS.

SYDNEY, May 31. The. Royal party attended the University Commemoration Day celebrations. They received fin uproariously enthusiastic welcome from the students. The proceedings opened with the eoiiferrjng of the ad eundem degree of the Doctor of Laws upon the Duke, to whom Ihe successful students were [jresented. The Duchess was presented with a nioroeco\ album, containing views of the University, from the Senate. Afterwards a large and brilliant gathering took place in the form of a garden party in the University grounds. The Duke and Dudhess in the afternoon visited the Art Gallery. The Royal concert in the Town Hall to-night was a splendid success. The hall was magnificently decorated, and the audience was large and brilliant. Large crowds in the illuminated streets watched the arrival and departure of the Duke and Duchess, escorted by the Lancers and mounted police.

At I he conclusion of the Royal concert, the Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of Sydney, presented the Duchess of York with a handsome souvenir album containing hand-painted views.

The Duke, at the University gathering, highly enjoyed the students' versification about his visit, the oft-repeated demand for "a speech from George" and inquiries as to Premier See's prospective knighthood.
