Work on the claims recently peg-god out on the Ongaie Creek has commenced. The Surprise claim (prospector's) have live men busily employed packing in the necessary working material, erecting dwellings, smithy, cutting tracks, etc. It is the intention of the, syndicate to cut a tail-race up the creek, to slush the illirifcrOUS SUIXCI clo^VTi to ana over the electric plated, by erecting a dam further up. where a. good force of water can'be obtained. The necessary timber required for operations will be sawn on the property. The owners of the claim have had great difficulty in getting in their provisions and material from the Tauranga "Road, and they are applying to the Minister for Mines for assistance in making a road to the creek.
