HOWICK.
A petition of the ratepayers of HowicK was sent to the Road Board, requesting that gorse be deemed' to be and declared to be by special order a, "noxious weed" under the Act of 1900. A public meeting of the ratepayers was called and held on Thursday* evening in the Library building, Mr F. Hirst (Chairman of the Board) presiding. Portions of the AcC were read and explained to the meeting1, and, after discussion, on the motion of Mr; George Sellwood, sen., seconded by Cap« tain Irvine, a resolution 'to the effect
"That the petition be complied with," was carried without dissent.
