U.A.O. DRUIDS.
The half-yearly meeting of -the: Auckland Lodge of Druids was held last evening at Cook-street Hall. A.D. Rro. W. Feck presided. There was $■ large attendance of brethren, and much interest was evinced in the proceedings. The election of officers resulted as follows: J.P.A.. Bro. Wi Feck; A.D.. Bro. R. Hughes; Y.A.,: Bro. J. Brainbley; secretary, Bro. W. Hunter; treasurer, Bro. ,1. Wheeler, (re-elected); A. Bards, Bros. Kelleway; and Palmer; V.A.8., Bros. Phillips and I{yan; J.G.. Bro. Findlay; minute secretary, Bro. Fraser; librarian, Bro; Phillips; organist, Bro. Coßgraye (r^ elected);' 'D.P., Bro. Wm. Bloomfjela; G.L. representative, Bro. A. A. Lepine; auditors Bros. Grover and Cosgrave; surgeons, Bros. Moir and Darby; conference delegate, Bro. G. N. Downey, P.D.P. The newly-elected brethren were duly installed by District President Bro. George N. Downey, and briefly returned thanks* At the Conclusion of the installation ceremony the Chairman called xipou District Grand Secretary. Bro. .James Mackay, of Wellington, to make a presentation to Bro. George Peace, who hud successfully filled the office of secretary for a numf ber of years, and who, through pressure of business could not continue ta^ act in that capacity. P.ro. Mackay made a capital speech,.and in doing so invested Bro. Peace with a very handsome Past Secretary's collar, as a sli«-ht recognition of the esteem in which he is held by the brethren. The recipient responded with a few well chosen remarks, thanking his brother Druids for their handsome, gift, which' would ever serve to remind him of happy memories in connection WitU the Order, and assured..them that al-; though he was relinquishing the responsible position of secretary,, his interest in Auckland Lodge in particular and Druidism in general would never cease.
" lTefresKmehts were handed -rotttid, and the'toasts of the Queen and the; Druids, the District Grand Lodge, tha visitors,, and the retiring officers, coupled with the name of Bro. Peace, Avere duly honoured and responded to. Bro. J. Cosgrove efficiently presided at the piano, and the proceedings broke up at 11 p.m.
