CONCERT TO DR. EGAN.
The complimentary concert tendered last evening in the Opera House to the Very Rev. Dr. Eg-an, 0.5.8., on the occasion of his silver jubilee in the priesthood, was very largely attended, and was a most successful affair. All the ladies and gentlemen who assisted did 'exceedingly well, ami encores were numerous. The orchestra, under,the eonductorshlp" o? Air T. JJ- JJosworth, played some lino selections, and the Wnlata Quartette -sang some part .songs very acceptably.- Miss Annie Taylor sang "A Summer Night,1' and Mr Arthur Ford sang- "The Drea'tn Angel," for which he received a double encore. Madame Casier sang very pleasingly "A May Morning" and "Love's R e . quest." Mr A. A. Partridge played a mandolyra solo, "Alice." and Mr Henry Gray, gave an amusing original phrenological lecture on "The Colonial Skull." Mr Frank M. Clark (of the Gaiety Co.) whom Mr Percy Dix kindly allowed to take part in the concert, gave some -most amusing- character sketches, and ' h!g "Schoolboy's Recitation." Misses Fuller and Feldman gave a very attractive and clever dance. Mr Albert Lucas gave a dramatic recital (in costume) of "Mark Antony's Oration." Mr Wilfred Manning sang "The Deathless Army," and Dr. Egan gave his popular .humorous song, "The Baby on the Shore." Mr Alf Bartley played the pianoforte accompanU ments. The proceeds of the concert are to bo devoted towards renovating Dr. Egan's presbytery. ' -"'
