A deputation from the Ohinemuri Rugby Union waited on the County Council at their meeting- to urge that body to push on the acquiring of the Mackaytown reserve for recreation purposes. Mr Moss, who acted as spokesman, said at present pigs were cutting up the ground, rendering it unfit for playing football on, whilst another reason-for urgency was that the planting season would soon be on. Councillor Poland supported the application, but nsked the Council to include Waikino and "\yaitekauri, which also were badly in need of recreation, reserves. In Waitekauri £20 annually wns paid by footballers for a paddock which was of little use, and a very good reserve of ten ncres could now be procured through the generosity of Mr Draffin for £50. He moved that the Council's solicitor be instructed to get the reserves at Ivarangahake, Waikino, and Waitekauri vested by the Warden in the Council. This^ was seconded by Cr. Draffin and carried.
