the greatest ease, in the two mile he was the only competitor who finished, three of the live starters falling and the fourth giving up a couple of laps from home. The 100 yds flat handicap was won by C. E. .McCarthy from the 7yds mark; while U. 11. Davis scored an easy win in the three mile bicycle handicap. Hunter's Band was in attendance during the afternoon. The following events were decided after we went to press yesterday: — Half-mile Bicycle Championship of Auckland (cash riders).—W. Tierney 1, B. Smith, Reynolds was leading as the field rounded into the straight, but Tierney came through with a strong sprint and catching Reynolds thirty yards from home, passed him and won by about 4 yards. Stewart and Hendry set the pace for trie first three laps, but Reynolds who had been lying second to Stewart, sprinted right away from him at the home turn, and won by over twelve yards. Draffin. Tierney jumped away with the lead, with Reynolds running second, but early in the second lap Smith dashed to the front and got clear away, leading the field by 50 yards into the third lap. Tierney and Reynolds, however, set sail after the leader and wore him down in the third lap, Smith falling away beaten. In the last lap Tierney and Reynolds contested every inch of the way, and the judges were unable to separate them jat the finish, a.dead heat being declared.
