BAND CONTEST.

The quickstep competition in connection with the band contest has been decided. Ten bands took part, and inarched through the town to the Basin Reserve, where a fairly large crowd gathered. In the absence of Mr Code,, of Melbourne, who is not yet out of quarantine, Mr C. D. Mclntosh judged the musical portion of the display. The following is the result, points for military work and music being given:—Palmerston North 108, Wanganui 107, Wellington Garrison 103, Nelson 102, Petone 102, North-east Valley (Dunedin) 101, Woodville 100, Jupp's (Wellington) 84, Mitchelltown (Wellington) 79, Naval Institute , (Wellington) G9.
