The Rough Riders' seel ion of the Fourth Contingent from Auckland arrived by the Rotokino this morning-, but owing- to the early hour there was no public demonstration. Colonel Collins welcomed Copt. Abbott and his men. The vessel had a fairly fine passage, and tbe horses landed in line condition. .Several men were victims of seasickuess. By ten o'clock all the horses and stores were landed, and the men rode out to the camp at Newtown Park. GREYMOUTH, Wednesday. To-day being a half-holiday there was a great tiH-n-cnit for the proeesision.The fire brigades, friendly societies, school children, and bands paraded. Afterwards the riding' tests and 'sham-fight took place. Ten men were i selected for the Fourth Contingent. They were entertained at a social toj night, and leave on Friday by the Waimii. A goodly sum was collected. • • CIIRISTCITUKCH, Wednesday. There are now 133. men in the Fifth Contingent camp. At the afternoon parade Lieutenant-Colonel Slater read jout the altered conditions of service, which were unanimously accepted by the men. The marching was good, and the progress made is very satisfactory. Major Wright has joined the camp. CIIRISTCHURCJI, this day.

The American Tobacco Company : offer to supply to each member of the 'Fourth Contingent a 2oz packet of ; "Old Judge" tobacco, free of charge, I besides this they themselves giving--13200 packages to the Contingent. In ica.sh.and goods the Company have ali ready given some £1400 for the benefit of the" soldiers at the front. DUNEDIN, Wednesday. The Organising' Committee of the Fourth Contingent have so far made no recommendations as to any officers for the Otago Company or the Southland half-company. All appointments are so far acting. The recommendation for permanent officers will be made on Fridrfy. There are in camp at Forbury 158' men in all, eight being emergencies, who, it is understood, will go into the Fifth Contingent if noi required for the Fourth. For the Fifth Contingent there are jnow 65 men in camp at Tahuna Park. These were put through dismounted drill, as so far there are ouly a few , torses in camp.
