NEW ZEALAND'S FIFTH CONTINGENT.
THE AUCKLAND SECTION".
There avus another rush of applicants at the Drill Hall last evening1 J'or enrolment in the Fifth. Contingent for service in South Africa, over 200 being- present. Forty men selected the previous evening to come up for medical examination were tested by Drs. King, Parkes, Knight, Grant, Pa list and De Clive Lowe. About fifteen of the men failed to pass the tests. The successful ones were: — Rodney Douglas Connell, age 21; Jas. Howard Hollick, age 24; Richard Alfred Movie, age 28; Ernest Flynn, age 22; Francis John Petchell, age 20; Munro Fraser, age 21; Sylvester Exissell, age 22; Robert Smith, age 2S: Alfred Samuel Clarke, age 29; Wrii. Urquhart, age 20; Edward Innes, age 30; Herbert Smith, age 27; Henry Nesbitt, age 29; William Hartnoll, age 2:>; William Craig, age 25; James Fitzgerald, age 27: Alexander Mortonsen, age .20: Peter Douglas McDovitt, age 22; Albert Budge, age 22: Rob't. Roper, age 34: Henry John McDonald, age 29; llobert Rule, age 22; Charles Menzios. age 21: Chris. Hammond, age 27: William F. Gillies, age 32; Joseph Brown, aye 27: William McCliesh, age 35: Arthur Watkins, age 2-1: Francis Saunders. age 22; Waller Connell, age ill)'. Geo. 11. Beere, age 30; Frank Rusdeii. age 2S; Harold Ellison, age 21. The above detachment will parade Cor inspection by Colonel 'Ranks at Potter's Paddock t\t four o'clock this afternoon to undergo the riding fests. The remaining applicants, to the number of about l."> 0, were drawn up in line last evening and 26 of tlie likeliest looking men were selected by Colonel 'Ranks to enmp up for medical e.vnmination this evening. Ti'f-re nro pliovt ninety men in camp at Potter's Pndd'ok at present. The process of "weeding out"' continues, as there are any quantity of suitable men to select f.rom.
